Despite a glut of free player/encoders, it's tough to find one that meets our expectations. Formerly known as Sound DB, MediaMonkey has excellent library-management tools that keep the largest digital music collections well organized. Stir that up with integrated CD and DVD burning, a stellar interface, a full-featured encoder, and the ability to sync with portable audio devices such as the iPod, and you have a pretty compelling product.
Upon first launch, the program scans your drive for supported digital media files to add to the library. Files are sorted based on their ID3 tags, and the helpful Auto-Rename and Auto-Tag From Filename features keep untagged tracks from falling through the cracks. Party mode locks down your library while still allowing people to request songs. Auto DJ plays selections from your library even when there are no requests in the queue. Third-party plug-ins are available from the site if you want to tinker with the playback and encoding engine or add additional sound-processing effects. The interface is well designed, with clean, colorful icons throughout.
Considering the overall polish of this application, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything you don't like. Although it's definitely geared toward managing extensive collections, just about anyone will appreciate the comprehensive feature set. For $20, MediaMonkey Gold adds advanced features such as sleep, scripting, previewing, and on-the-fly file conversion when syncing with a portable device.

Version: MediaMonkey 2.5.3.968
Pros: Nice looking interface.Much easier to use than WMP10.Its got everything you want.Ripper/burner,tagger, the list goes on.Nice download (So Far).I am totaly hacked off with WMP.The new Movie codecs dont work.So as I downloaded MonkeyMedia today, and VideoLan yesterday.I am about to get rid of WMP10 after I write this (I have a Blaze stand alone DVD player) .Microsoft had better get their act together, as more are leaving the outdated Advertising hog microsoft WMP behind!
Cons: I like eveything so far!

Version: MediaMonkey 2.5.3.968
Pros: This program has some very nice features. One which is especially usefull for me is the party function as I put my comp downstairs for all to chose music on. There are some other nice little features not found on other players.
Cons: The program feels a bit cheap, and not as nice and profressional as Itunes, I find it usefull at parties, but apart from that I'm going to stick to itunes.

"Best all around music manger"
Pros: Great set of features, I recommend the gold version that virtually does everything for you.. watches for changes in your folders and reflects them inmediately. Imports Itunes and Winamp mlu and it's stable and cute... sych to every mp3 player available.
Cons: Music, focus un music and music alone. I would send WM10 and Itunes to hell if I could synch my video as well. I wish some features would be built in, like IM display, with no need of plugins (uses Winamp plugins and work perfectly). Anyway, the best =)
