From Mayura Software :Play chess against your computer using Mayura Chess Board. Beginner, intermediate and expert levels of play are supported. Beginners will find plenty of assistance Mayura Chess Board can optionally highlight squares to which a piece can be moved, and highlight undefended and attacked pieces. Expert players will be challenged by the included Sjeng chess engine. Players at all levels will appreciate features such as animated piece movement, arrow to indicate last computer move and unlimited undo/redo. Version 1.8 may improved look and feel. Also, you can type in moves. This is useful when reading books on chess.

Pros: This is the only free program worth using to play chess. It is challenging and fun.

Pros: Nice graphics. Smooth animation. Movement direction arrows. Hints. BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, and EXPERT levels. Online playing. Single play (you vs. computer).
Cons: Sjeng Chess Engine is damn near impossible to beat in EXPERT mode.

Pros: Enjoyed playing the computer. Easier than losing to a real person:).
Cons: Hard to learn moves such as castling. Couldn't locate guide for assistance.

"One of the best free chess games"
Pros: Three different playing levels, great graphics. Be sure to put your "Chess Hat" on when playing on the Expert Level, the game is relentless.
Cons: The board and chess pieces could be larger

"It's too difficult to win Mayura."
Pros: In several hundreds of matches I could only won twice, and a few draws. It's a very strong program in the highest level (expert)
Cons: The only cons is the interface, too small.
It needs options to get larger the board and pieces.
