Based on Internet Explorer's engine, Maxthon is probably something of a curiosity for most North American users. It never really caught on there, but elsewhere--especially China--it's one of the most popular browsers around. It renders pages fast and comes loaded with features, as if Firefox came with 90 percent of its most popular plug-ins. Maxthon 2 features loads more customization ability, but sacrifices a bit of stability for the privilege. Its design is stylish compared to the old version, and its new approach to accessing functions makes this free browser more competitive.
All the basics are represented here, from tabbed browsing to skins to add-ons, and many of the rolled-in features make Maxthon hard to ignore. Some of our favorite features include rolled-in auto-form filling, the ability to set up bookmark groups that open on start-up--excellent for news or blogs, the ability to autoscroll Web pages, and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want. There are also customizable hotkey commands for such nifty features as auto-completing URLs, so if you type "download" and hold down the Ctrl key, it will auto-fill the "http://" and the ".com". The online favorites service is similar to that offered by other browsers, and works well.
We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend for those looking for a change of pace.

Version: Maxthon 2.5.6.350
Pros: Built in ad-blocker along w/ Maxthon Guardian(sort of like a behavior based blocking tool which helps stop the download of maliscious files)
Cons: Power user's web browser, some computer users who do not like to customize computers or don't like lots of options regarding browsers(such as Chrome) might be turned off b/c lack simplicity.
Summary: Lack of simplicity but loads of functionality. Decided to make my default browser b/c IE8 and Google Chrome use more resources than FF 3.0 and IE7. but Maxthon is safer than FF 3.0 and IE7 and comparable to Chrome and IE8.

"WOW, What a super browser this is!!!"
Pros: Love the interface and the fact that you can have a favorites bar. You can also load a side bar with what ever you want. The best is the speed dial, I have 6 pages with 18 items on each page and you can set it as your homepage
Cons: None, download was easy and so far it has opened every page with no problems.
Summary: I have used IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Avant, The World, AOL Explorer, MSN Explorer and Maxthon2 beats them all with speed and ease of use. This interface is nice and well laid-out, the side bar is really cool because of all the items yo... read more >>

Version: Maxthon 2.5.6.350
Pros: as fast as IE, maybe more in some areas, and has almost all the same capabilities. Has great plug-ins options. Imports IE favs and other features easily.
Cons: has problem with java and flash on some sites. Seem to also to have a bug when trying to access the options menu (doesn't display properly).
Summary: highly recommended
