Based on Internet Explorer's engine, Maxthon is probably something of a curiosity for most North American users. It never really caught on there, but elsewhere--especially China--it's one of the most popular browsers around. It renders pages fast and comes loaded with features, as if Firefox came with 90 percent of its most popular plug-ins. Maxthon 2 features loads more customization ability, but sacrifices a bit of stability for the privilege. Its design is stylish compared to the old version, and its new approach to accessing functions makes this free browser more competitive.
All the basics are represented here, from tabbed browsing to skins to add-ons, and many of the rolled-in features make Maxthon hard to ignore. Some of our favorite features include rolled-in auto-form filling, the ability to set up bookmark groups that open on start-up--excellent for news or blogs, the ability to autoscroll Web pages, and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want. There are also customizable hotkey commands for such nifty features as auto-completing URLs, so if you type "download" and hold down the Ctrl key, it will auto-fill the "http://" and the ".com". The online favorites service is similar to that offered by other browsers, and works well.
We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend for those looking for a change of pace.

Pros
Fast, fast, fast with built in ad blocker unlock IE8 and IE7. So stable and does not consume resources like the current set of browsers (Chrome, FF 3.5, IE8.
Cons
Can't think of any.
Summary
It's such a shame the American public does not know about this browser. It's really good and should get more attention.

Full featured, much more features than Internet Explorer and more configurable than FireFox.
Cons
Lately has been running slowly for me even after upgrading to the latest beta version. I switched to Avant Browser and it running much much faster.
Maybe just a problem with my setup as it has work okay in the past...Summary
It's work trying Avant Browser or Maxthon. In my opinion they are both much better than FireFox.

Real good all around browser, and you can make it look and feel just about any way you want to.

It's a fast system, too bad it's full of back-door spying.
Start page - About:Blank - yet upon startup trys to connect to somewhere in China (ZoneLabs firewall alert pops up.) Online bookmarks/favorites disabled, Check for updates unchecked, All RSS news unchecked, yet still it's trying to do things without being asked. Not good. Avoid. -

Thiis browser is lightning fast! I was always afraid to change from IE to another browser, but am glad I did and chose Maxthon 2. It runs as smooth as silk and is very user friendly. It's much better and faster than IE

Quick and easy to use, very flexible and customizable. I like Firefox but it can not open my camera surveillence remote site because it needs Active-X, Maxthon can open the site easily and more quickly than IE. Max just works.

Not enough add-ons, but they're getting better.

You can set up GUI as you please, including incorporating menus into the title-bar.
Sidebar 'favorites' and split-view (2 webpages side-by-side) work great with modern wide-screen monitors.
Has a decent ad-blocker built in.Cons
Opera's ad-blocker is easier to use.
Theoretically it could have whatever problems the IE HTML engine has.Summary
If you need IE, use Maxthon instead.
I've extensively tested IE, FireFox, Chrome and Opera and stick to Opera and Maxthon.
