Publisher's description
From AG Depsys Software :Mass File Editor is a powerful text operations engine to process large number of files routinely. Automatically edit any number of files chosen by a user supplied list, search the plain text or regular expressions, maintain the data stack of what was found and compose new data from it. Files are modified and renamed using all available data. The program allows editing files one by one or going through the list in a single pass without user's attention required.

Version: Mass File Editor 2
Pros: Powerful
Cons: Not intuitive. Limits replacement to 250 files. That would have worked if it had checked what I was trying to do. I wanted to change the name of 99 files in a directory with 600, but because the logic is poor it just rejected the change and told me the trial version only goes to 250. Get Space Tornado Renamer instead. It's fast, easy to use and free to use.

Version: Mass File Editor 2
Pros: Easy enough to install.
Cons: Unintuitive. If I want an application where I can mass-rename a lot of files, I'd expect the menu to navigate: File > Mass Rename (color me old fashioned!) and THEN be able to set my criteria for the rename. Found nothing, got frustrated, uninstalled. Don't bother with it.

"Quite flexible text editor. Unicode and other codepages support is also nice."
Pros: Really good to batch edit many files at once.
I was looking for a flexible text manipulation program and this is one of the best I could find, with full regular expressions support and programming-like engine.
A standalone editor is also ok although there are others on the market.
Cons: Hope they'll work on the user interface a bit over time.

"Product did not work at all!"
Pros: This app seems to have the potential to be great with robust features and capabilities.
Cons: The application did not work at all. I downloaded two different versions. Neither worked. The navigation and usage is not intuitive at all.
Summary: The product seems to have great potential to be very useful, but if it doesn't work, it never will be useful.
NOte that I downloaded four other similar applications that all funct... read more >>
