While Mask Surf cleans up Internet tracks and protects your identity while you surf the Web, it isn't as thorough as some other privacy applications. From the system tray, you'll be able to quickly access Mask Surf's easy-to-use interface. During our analysis, we are able to configure its setup wizard to disguise the operating system, browser, and system language, although there was no way to know if they were genuinely hidden. You can manually add proxy servers for anonymous Web surfing, but your true IP is never out of sight, and the program doesn't test the proxy's level of anonymity. On the plus side, Mask Surf does effectively remove your online traces by clearing away cookies, caches, URLs, forms, and passwords left over from surfing with Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla, or Firefox. Overall, this tool provides privacy-conscious users with minimal online tracks cleanup, but not much surf anonymity.
