"Brilliant mapping for UK, Ireland and Open Streetmap"

Pros
Easy to use, lots of tools for creating routes and annotating maps, export-import for GPS formats. I use it all the time for planning cycling holidays and journeys.
Cons
Not many, a few things could be improved but it is being updated all the time and the company do take note. Help and instructions a bit of a mess so you have to find your own way about, but they are quick to answer support questions.
Summary
If you want a good topographic mapping system for UK or Irish Ordnance Survey maps plus the small scale road maps its great, if you want good free mapping tools that use the free data from Open Streetmap worldwide, it's also great.

This product does not do the grinding that it says it does, namely changing file types from one useful type to another. Instead it tries to sell you things. Avoid.

Pros
its used by Mountain Rescue England & Wales, The Association of Lowland Search and Rescue, the British Cave Rescue Council, RAF Mountan Rescue, so its hardly likley to be rubbish. A brilliant piece of software!

Just want more worldwide maps.

Mapyx Quo is junk software designed to sell Mapyx products maps and nothing more. You're better off using your cell phone service navigation website to send directions to your cell phone. or if you have an actual GPS, use that service's website.

"Low cost access to OS Maps"

Pros
Good value for money and you can get started on route planning with minimum investment. Similar features to its competitors ( I compared with Memory Mapper and Anquet) but a more modern interface.
Cons
Not as intuitive to use as Memory Mapper, eg you need to use the right mouse key not the left, to move around the map. Pretty buggy, freezing at least once a session. Seems fine on restart, but you do need savie your work often
Summary
Software is free and you pay when you download the maps. Trialled alongside Memory mapper and Anquet. Quo is by far the cheapest solution. You can buy standard maps or map tiles - £1.95 for a 0.25k tile. This means you can buy only what you need. I bought the 6 map tiles for my local area for £12, downloaded, and up and routing within 30 minutes of downloading the software. So you can get up and running without too much investment
