SpyWare apps, often installed without your knowledge, send information about your surfing habits to ad companies, which, in turn, send you more popup ads. Features include automatic update system that keeps your level of protection up-to-date, System Shields run in the background, alerts will fire if any of the shields catches malware. You can choose to set a scheduled scan for your computer to automatically scan your PC periodically. Manage the list of ignored or quarantined malware by adding and removing from them. Our spyware scanning engine has built in smart search capabilities that catches new spyware components.

Pros: Picks up what other programs leave behind. Wonderful cleanup! If it would only... (see cons)
Cons: It use to update. Now it will not. Can that be repaired?

Pros: Malware sweeper has a nice user interface
Cons: If you use Windows98 ,or enjoy Spyware Blaster's protection, DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM! It picks up and labels integral parts of of these programs as spyware. After only one scan and "cleaning", it removed much of Spyware Blaster's protection and froze my system forcing a cold reboot. Upon restarting, I was asked to enter my Windows account name and confirm my Windows product key , as if I were re-installing Windows! While I don't belive malware sweeper is spyware itself, I am curious as to why it would focus on that part of my o.s.! In short, the publishers at Malware.com need to spend a little less time integrating cool "Flash" graphics into their programs, and a little more time into their programs' usefulness and stability.

"This program does not deserve such a high rating."
Pros: Nice interface, but that's where the pros end.
Cons: It finds stuff that's not really there. For example: If you use Spyware Blaster's "Restricted Sites Protection" MalwareSweeper detects some restricted sites as malware and leaves your computer vulnerable to CoolWebSearch (coolwwwsearch.com), PluginAccess (pluginaccess.com) and XXXToolbar (xxxtoolbar.com).

"Awful!!! LIES about free! Try "AntiVir" got my TROJAN best!! Keep reading..."
Pros: Has a cool looking user interface. But was wrong about almost everything! It did find some real stuff; so, maybe it's good for only one scan. Whatever you do, don't download the "FREE" Malware Sweeper "PRO" version 2.0; IT'S NOT FREE!!! But is NON-functional! And found wrong stuff; see below...
Cons: This is the most problematic program that I've ever downloaded from download.com. After your first scan, it tells you that you cannot update. Then it tells you to go to the website to download PRO version 2.0 to get a "Scan your PC for Free." Click it re-run the program it finds a ton of stuff like 456 count, and then only shows you like 40 of them (the registry entries.) When you click to repair... It says BUY NOW!!! Feature not available in DEMO. It stated that java.exe in the Java file was a trojan, also found javew.exe in the same place. GET "AntiVir" virus scanner and run it with whatever other antivirus that you want!!! Don't use Malware Sweeper!!!
PS When Zone Alarm refused it access to the internet, it didn't tell me it found no connection... It said, "Please wait while Malware Sweeper compiles the data etc..." Well, it Crashed my OS!!! Then when I rebooted it, (my OS) had me re-imput my personal info & OS key. If I hadn't had my OS KEY I would have been contacting Microsoft!!! BEWARE...!!!
