This small application retrieves account passwords from certain e-mail clients, but fails with a particular title. Mail PassView's interface is nothing fancy, but it's easy enough to use and displays account information including e-mail client, e-mail address, server, account type, and of course, user ID and password. We appreciate that the program can quickly generate HTML reports and we were able to save information into text files. Mail PassView doesn't need installation and is small enough for a USB toolkit. Warning: because it hacks passwords some antivirus software will report this executable as malware. While the program does reveal passwords on standard e-mail software accounts, it failed to live up to its claim of grabbing passwords of Mozilla Thunderbird accounts. Despite that minor slipup, this freeware application is for all levels of computer users looking for a quick and easy way to retrieve e-mail passwords.
