"Amazing features at this price!"
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
Extremely easy to use, Features far exceed its price (Chroma-key, Multi-cam Edit , AVCHD Editing), Price, under $100... This was very student friendly for me.
Cons
Doesn?t export directly to .flv, but does every other format...
Summary
I am a student, so needless today I have an economically strapped situation aside from our global recession. I was in need or desire of a video editing program to take the video I shoot and clean it up, export it for YouTube. I did my online searching and found several programs to fit the need category but damn if they are not proud of their applications, even with a student discount, I would still rather make a few car payments thank you. (Brand names do not make better products)
CNet you need a better preview and edit button, who knew my quote marks would end up as question marks, Thank you CNet for making me seem uprofessional
Movie Edit Pro was first dismissed because I thought it was to inexpensive, marketing likes to hype their products up, but I downloaded the trial anyway. I registered to get the 30, not sure why some whine about that... but okay. I didn?t need 30 days to decide, when I tried out the chroma-key I was sold, it was so easy to use. Multi-cam was great for the student to student interviews, allowing me to further use the picture-in-picture effect. Again, to easy, I was expecting a learning curve.
They have different ?modes? of the software, depending on what you need to do, you have a Record Mode that allows you to... record/import your video, and this was great because you didn?t have to deal with editing icons and tracks and things that could confuse you. It was 1, 2, 3 ... done! Then you have the ?Awesome? edit mode. Which as different views like the storyboard, overview, and timeline, I pretty much lived in timeline, but when I did a photo slide show for marketing class, it was all about storyboard.
I am using this program nearly daily, from the life in a dorm room to football games. If you are looking for something that anyone can sit down and use and you have a PC... this is your best choice for the money.
Just as a side note, if you download the trial, check out the deco effects... those are great!

"Extremely feature rich"
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
Easy to use, lots of great transitions and other effects, supports lots of video formats for import and export (in fact no other app I looked at supported as many as this one)
Cons
Needs a very powerful machine for HD editing. (most of similar apps do, but this one a little more)
Summary
I would recommend it to anyone with a good PC and a little bit general computer knowledge.

"HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE but decent product"
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
Decent product, fairly easy to use and you can make good looking videos with it as long as you don't need to contact Magix support for anything.
Cons
Codec activation is a pain. Still have not got it done yet. Absolutely HORRIBLE tech support. One week now and still no response. They will charge you to speak with someone by phone but you got to go through hoops to request a ticket online!
Summary
Overall happy with the product but gave up on getting any help from Magix support.

"not too shabby"
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
quite a tasty program. liked the ease of drop and drag file and effects loading. nice little effects kit as well.
Cons
didn't like the fact that active x controls were added to WMVHD disc i created. also wouldnt let me burn mpeg-2 DVD. Was this due to using trial version?
Summary
I was looking for a video edito to throw together a silly little video made from my cel phone captured videos. this baby did the trick. almost gave up due to time constraint vs. learning curve, but i'm glad i persisted. the movie came out quite well. ease of drag and drop file loading.
Almost gave up on this program, mostly due to time constraints vs. learning curve.... Did not like the fact that ActiveX was added to the disc i burned.....my computer didnt like them and wouldn't let auto play function because of them.
Also I was not able to burn to DVD format. Was this because I only used the trial version? Even if this is true, a disclaimer stating that not all of the utilies would be unlocked until purchased would have been nice. Maybe I'm just a slow learner -
"Amazingly feature rich...."
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
Program Layout is very easy to use. Features like Chroma-key, Picture-in-Picture, 3D Text, amazing transitions, decoration effects... that list goes on.
Cons
It could have a more discriptive help file and manual
Summary
I have used a great deal of video editors, including the previous releases of the Movie Edit Pro. The features of this program are simple to use once you understand its drag & drop and object based.
I like how I can take a video or image and layer it over another, even angling it to fit proportionally to an object in the background. You can also use this key-frame feature to apply effects and effect changes over duration of the video or image. I did this with a video of the sky and clouds, gradually adding in a brightness effect, saturation, and color; giving it the feel of a mystical storm brewing...Very cool effect.
It has a multi-cam feature for taking video of the same content but in different shooting positions and lining it up so you can choose which camera should be the viewing camera at that time, much like sporting events from TV... I used it to create a interview effect using two cameras. This way I could do this all in one shot with no camera movements. Just record from stationary points, live question and answer series to be editied within the software... so easy.
Outstanding sound and noise reduction for those noisy camera recordings, I took out the wind noise and then added in naration and music. Very easy to use editing, using the handles to position where and when the video should start and end, transitions galore, text , 3D text, gracious number of editing tracks. The overview feature so you can see and movie scenes around easily.
Burning to DVD, Blu-ray, and AVCHD discs. Export to all the standard video formats, including direct presets for mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad Touch. Outstanding video quality.
And for those who need help, you should try the help drop down menu and the magix.info page, there are some amazing tools and resources there to quick start the impatient and detailed answers for those of us that want to get even more out of the software.
Since version 10, I have been hooked on this product, Thank you Magix. -
"Install error"
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
Didn't take long to dl or install.
Cons
Install error. Launches automatically after install leaving no opportunity for reboot. (I boot before and after installing -anything-.)
Summary
7 (SEVEN) day trial. Extending the trial requires registration. I have no problem with that, if notified beforehand. If doing business with liars isn't a problem for you, this might be your app.
Oh, LORD, this is a POS.

"Too cumbersome for my liking."
Version: Magix Movie Edit Pro 16.0 Plus
Pros
I cannot get to grips with the new features. Movie Edit Pro 14.o Plus is still my favourite.
Cons
The whole interface is certainly not user friendly for us amateurs, especially us older ones.
Summary
Not for me I'm afraid although it will not stop me buying Magix products in the future.
