Publisher's Description
From Magical Jelly Bean Software:
The Magical Jelly Bean SHN Shortener is a freeware utility for easily converting those enormous SHN & FLAC files to smaller MP3 or OGG Vorbis files. With the SHN Shortener you can customize your settings (default is 192bps, stereo), add ID3 tags, rename your files on the fly (using the ID3 tags), and even delete those old files all in 4 easy steps.
Be wary, MP3 and OGG are not replacements for lossless audio like SHN and FLAC, but simply a reasonable alternative to those of us who don't hear a difference and can't see a reason to keep those enormous files.

"Great product and simply as can be."
Version: Magical Jelly Bean SHN Shortener 1.03
Pros
This was a pretty sweet little software package. It works as advertised.
Cons
The only con came from the joker giving this a 1 star ranking.
Summary
Quick, easy, free. Enough said.
Note that the files convert and the filename remains with a .shn at the end but the file simply needs to be renamed in explorer as the .shn has not bearing on the fact that the file is an MP3. The conversion takes place in the source directory. -
"Appears simple, but doesn't actually work"
Version: Magical Jelly Bean SHN Shortener 1.03
Pros
Easy to set up, simple interface
Cons
DOESN'T CONVERT FILES FROM SHN TO ANYTHING!
Summary
I downloaded this and installed it to convert some Grateful Dead shows from SHN (Shorten) format to mp3, and the interface appeared to be super simple: just find the files, tag them the way you want, and hit go. I also checked the "delete original files" box, thinking, naturally, that I'd have REPLACEMENTS FOR THEM SOMEWHERE. Contrary to my belief, after Magical Jelly Bean told me my files had been "converted", they were nowhere to be found. Neither were the originals. NOWHERE, not even in Trash. Tried it again without tagging, using original filename, same result (wasn't stupid enough to delete the original this time). Searched my entire hard drive, no result. Tried converting to .ogg on the same file, SAME RESULT. I don't have any .ogg files on my drive, and a search turned up 0 results for new .ogg files. This program is total, utter crap. Thanks a lot, Magical Jelly Bean.
