Machete is a quick and lean lossless video and audio editor. With its extremely user-friendly design, Machete is an ideal solution for quick and easy "slicing" of your video files.
You can delete unnecessary fragments (e.g. cut out commercials), copy, move, mix and save individual pieces. This means that Machete combines the functionality of both video splitter (cutter, trimmer) and video joiner (for joining video files with exactly the same formats).
With Machete, you also can: save a video and an audio stream as separate files, add/replace an audio stream in AVI, WMV and FLV files and save a video frame as a bitmap (*.bmp) file.
What's new in this version: Version 3.4 build 44 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Great video editing program"

Pros
I was able to use it with no problems like others that you have to set everything from what kind of video you want to save it to and what audio youvwant to use, etc, etc.
Cons
The only thing was that you can't splice together two videos of different compression ratios but you can't get everything.
Summary
I liked it so much that I purchased it for about 20 bucks.

A very speedy and simple video editor.Just a few seconds and the video is proccessed without conversion.
I am a heavy youtube user and I frequently upload videos to the site.The point is I don't like my video to be converted twice.I prefer to upload them right out from the video camera.
This software is a Godsend because it does not degrade your video after the editing is performed.Original quality is kept.Cons
The only thing I dislike from this software is that every cut is noticeable.I will be glad to see a newer version coming with simple and smooth transitons.I would have paid double the price for this software with the above mentioned function.

Only product I could find that did exactly what I needed it to do. The 14-day free evaluation period was perfect. I could test it out completely before buying it. Price is reasonable. The installer didn't try to install a bunch of extra things.

Summary
I needed to edit (cut and join) WMV files recorded from GoToMeeting web sessions without losing video quality. I first converted the WMV-G2M3 files to WMV-WMV3 format using g2mtranscoder.exe. Then I used Machete to cut and join the sections so I could create individual 2-minute "how to" videos from a 60-minute G2M. Machete does not re-encode the video, so the result looks just as good as the original. Perfect solution!

No problem with out of sync audio after editing.Cons
Selection of key frames for editing limited where some edits could be made. But I think that the key frame requirement is needed to get a clean cut and avoid some problems that other editors have (such as out of sync or loss of quality).
Summary
I did not try all the editing features and have only played around with Machete for a few days but I am pleased with the editing that I have done.

Lightening fast editing! Love the smart way you mark only one, either the beginning or ending of a section and it automatically selects that section, allowing you to then cut that entire section without having to mark both ends - nice!

There is no way to fast forward 5-10 seconds ahead like some of the other splitters. Sometimes the next keyframe button takes you 1 second ahead... might as well just press the play button rather than wait 3 seconds to skip over 1 second

Other than the caveat I mentioned so far, everything is perfect.

Video quality isn't lost while editing.Cons
When performing several edits in a higher quality video (30 FPS or more). I found myself hitting the next key frame button several thousands of times over the course of a video. Not a big deal, Few people will need to edit several small clips.
Summary
I've been trying to find a video editor that does what this does. I'll save 100's of hours thanks to this program and free up 100's of gb on my hard drive after I edit through everything.
I've tried a couple others, but it's not an easy process. I don't want to read instructions for several hours to figure something out. Then upon figuring them out, the editing process is too time consuming to utilize.
I didn't read 1 instruction when figuring this program out.
I rarely pay for any computer programs, but I will happily pay for this program. -
"Decent, Fast AVI Editor with some flaws"

It is fast! It installs fast, starts fast and loads files fast. The UI is OK.
Cons
The key frame limitation is big -- you can only delete sections between key frames. Also, on some files it exits when trying to save, thus losing the edits.
Summary
This is a good and fast little AVI editor, but works best for stringing clips together, or removing scenes wholesale.
