From Atomic Bird :Macaroni is a tool that handles regular maintenance for Mac OS X, including the Mac OS X repair-privileges process and Unix-style maintenance. Some of these tasks normally run in the middle of the night-- and don't get run unless you leave your Mac on all night. Others don't run automatically at all and won't happen unless you remember when they're due. Macaroni remembers the schedule for you, running these maintenance tasks on a regular schedule, regardless of when your Mac is on. If a scheduled maintenance task is not run when it's normally scheduled, Macaroni automatically ensures that it's run at the next opportunity, whenever the Mac is on.

"Essential aid, reasonable price"
Summary: Yasu and other freeware programs do this clean-up but Macaroni is outstanding in background maintenance on a schedule. Even has a default schedule. For $9, a steal! security +++.

Summary: Since I installed and registered it, I have not had to deal with Macaroni. This is a good thing, I just wanted the maintenance tasks run when the computer was idle, exactly what Macaroni does, and I didn't want to have to remember to do them.

Summary: My G3 266mhz with OS-X Jaguar was slightly slow and after I downloaded and install and forget it without fiddling the configuration. It slightly improved the G3 266mhz with multi-tasking like browsers and opening applications.
