Version: MX Skype Recorder 2.1
"simple, easy to use for recoding skype voip - and free!"
Pros: Installation very easy, help accessible from display, minimizes okay on my laptop. Can record automatically or not with other options Have not used it for longer than 30 min phone call but default setting gives excellent quality recordings in mp3. Unlike a similarly named program, this really is free. May very well make a donation.
It works well, efficiently without frills but with all that I need to reliably record skype calls for voip.
Cons: Difficult - program does exactly what it claims to do, no more no less. It doesn't play the recording immediately after you finish call (is this a hardship?!) nor does it display recording levels (but as I have yet to find distortion from default setting, who cares?)
It doesn't give any indication to call receiver that you are recording - you decide if this a plus or a minus.

Version: MX Skype Recorder 2.1
Pros: The Skype recorder is a easy to use recorder. Its not complex. Its simple, small, and easy to use.
What I like most about this is the sound qulity. I recorded a hour and a half conversation, and it worked perfectly.
After recording, the Recorder quickly downloads it into mp3 format, sparing me some time to do it myself.
This recorder is extreamly user friendly, small, with some great sound qulity. This is probably the best you'll get when it comes to free recorders.
Cons: The main problem with the Skype Recorder is the fact that it forces you to save to one folder. In order to send the file to someone else, I must go through fifteen different folders.
The Recorder can also get annoying due to the fact that it starts recording as soon as the other person picks up the phone. This gives no prep time for podcasts. You have to start as soon as the phone is answered, or you can edit it out.
A pro, but also a con, the recorder is simple. As stated, but you see is what you get. Its nothing special, but, it does what it does what it sets out to do.

Version: MX Skype Recorder 2.1
Pros: Installed v2.1 without problem, no virus/adware detected. Pleased with the program which records in .wav but then compresses to mp3. Can get great quality sampling at 32000 with 32bit rate. 1hr conversation compressed to only 15MB (the wav files were 600MB!)
Cons: Two problems: first is that the program gives errors if you try to move the temp file location. Secondly, voices loose sync over time (problem with my CPU??) such that after 30mins, there is a 10-15 second gap and parties are recorded talking over one another. I left my MP3 recording what happened in the room and difference was definitely to do with the recorder and not skype delay. Also can't minimise window, have to use CTRL-R to make window disappear..
