This very handy tool lets you open nearly any program, file, folder, or Web site on your system with just a few keystrokes. Launchy is called from the background with a hot key combo, and a small, skinnable box pops up.
Enter the first few letters of a file or program, and Launchy automatically displays the rest of the name. You simply press Enter to open or launch it. If the displayed name isn't the item you want, a few seconds later the tool displays a drop-down list with other likely candidates from which you can choose. In our tests, we were easily able to configure the tool to choose from multiple directories among our system's other users' folders. Besides files, folders, and apps, Launchy also displayed site names from our default browser's Favorites file.
This easy-to-master tool--free and unlimited--performed without a hitch in all our tests, and soon may completely replace our using the Start menu or Windows Explorer. We recommend it for any user.

Summary
i'd imagine that once I got around to upgrading to Vista/ Windows 7, i wouldn't find this as impressive because currently I have an XP without the apparently amazing built-in search function... but for now, it's my favorite program on my computer because it's so easy to press alt+space, type in the first few letters, and launch my program =)

"Excellent little tool"

Pros
It finds whatever you want, fast and efficient, with autocomplete after you type 2 or 3 letters. It indexes everything, so you don't have to spend hours adding it all yourself. It is stable on my netbook, unlike some other launchers I have tried.
Cons
I would like to have more control over what it includes - it would be nice to have quick access to a full list to which I could add & remove. Configuration seems a bit obstinate - for example my Hotkey choice doesn't change from the default.

Some of the shortcuts seem to be broken. Launchy finds the desired app, but for some reason, it won't launch.

Puts a windows search directly on your page, doesn't look so appealing but there are different themes and you can always hide the program. I still use it on my desktop yet I always forget to you it because it's hidden.
Cons
Not too appealing, windows vista and windows 7 users will do just fine with the Windows Explorer.
Summary
If you're looking for an easy way to find things on your computer and online, then I suggest TRYING this program.
