Editors' reviewThough it's a basic, old-school, space-shooter game, we found LaserAge Gold very addictive. Your goal is to shoot down alien fleets that are attempting to invade Earth. As you get deeper into the game, the levels become much more complicated, since the enemy changes its attack strategies. For example, some invaders move horizontally and shoot occasionally, some fly in circles, and some move horizontally and fire constantly. Also, though the graphics aren't a masterpiece, they're certainly adequate for this game's purposes. We like that you can control your ship with both the mouse and the keyboard, although the default mouse setting gives you more flexibility. Also, the ability to play in full-screen or windowed mode is a nice option. Overall, we recommended LaserAge Gold to avid fans of space-shooter games.
LaserAge is a retro game similar to Galaxian and Galaga clones. This shooter features power-ups and is highly detailed, combining nostalgia with 24-bit color. Four levels have 100 waves of ships. Destroy 15 enemies with 13 power-ups. You can play in windowed and full-screen modes; then show off your skills to the world with Web-based high scores. Your ship can be controlled with the mouse, which comes in handy when you're trying to dodge enemy fire. The Gold version features a new interface and a massive list of bug fixes.
