CNET Editors' review
In our analysis, this medieval strategy game provides a decent challenge, although it didn't blow our minds. In King's Revenge Lite, you must help a monarch reclaim his throne by using chess-like moves to thwart and destroy the enemy. Along the way, you'll uncover magic rings, weapons, and various power-ups to aid you in your quest. Since this program's download file is a whopping 50MB, we expected impressive graphics, so we were a bit crestfallen when we saw the primitive and rather crude two dimensional design. You can disable the equally unimpressive audio and choose from various difficulty levels, but that's the extent of the feature set. The gameplay is odd--it feels like a chess game where you are about to lose, and are just buying time by escaping your opponents superior numbers with only your king (although there are power-ups, and in some levels you get a few extra pieces). We had some difficulty with the game in that it would not always reveal hidden areas of the board when we moved our king up close. The game comes with a decent online help tutorial. Although we found a number of flaws, King's Revenge will help chess beginners learn the basic moves chess pieces can make.Publisher's Description
From Idea Labs:
King's Revenge Lite is one of four King's Revenge strategy games available from Idea Labs. It's a chess-like strategy game for anyone nine years old and older. Think of it as the fusion of a medieval adventure, a puzzle game, a shooting action game, and a chess strategy game. Its turn-based nature, with variant chess-like moves, helps girls and boys learn strategic thinking. King's Revenge is a humorous and exciting way to learn spatial strategies. Help King Vindicuts (Vindictus Rex) build his army, his magic, and regain his throne. Note that this is a game for boys and girls alike. In a male dominated software game world, it is worth mentioning that girls really like King's Revenge, and gravitate towards its challenging yet comical levels. We are proud of the fact that most of our highest scoring players are girls.

"This game rocks! I am addicted!"
Version: King's Revenge Lite 3.0
Pros
I'm not sure why you guys don't like the graphics and sounds. They are great! I love the strategy of this game. Its addictive. The levels are detailed art. I think maybe you missed the humor in the sound fx, they are funny :) I highly recommend this game. I bought the 18 level game. Its even better!

"Art could be better, but the game is great. Challenging Strategy!"
Version: King's Revenge Lite 3.0
Pros
The more you play the deeper the strategy. At first you shoot a lot, but as you learn the game, you wipe out levels with strategic moves. It is addicting! The background sound track is nice. I found the MP3 files, so I play them on my MP3 player. My 10 year old likes to play it too!. Play the tutorial level and look at the web site for help on playing.
Cons
It would be nice if the game had modern 3D art. The sound fx are funny to my kid, but I'm glad they included a mute button. The game would be better if it had better art, or a 3D interface, but the graphics don't take away from the game.
