IrfanView is a fast and simple image viewer and editor that supports all major graphic formats, including BMP, DIB, JPEG, GIF, animated GIF, PNG, PCX, multipage TIFF, and TGA. In addition, it features drag-and-drop support, directory viewing, TWAIN support, slide shows, batch conversion, and modifications, such as color depth, crop, blur, and sharpen.

The latest version features a host of updates, including a zooming function for videos, new JPG Transformation dialog option, new "Browse Subfolders" dialog, when folder end/begin reached and an option to show EXIF data from TIF files.

This image viewer and editor is a longtime favorite among our staff, and with good reason. IrfanView is simple, fast, and free for individual use. Upon installation, the app attempts to install two Google programs, but if you don't want them, you can choose to opt out. The program lets you open and edit images, as well as multiple media formats. You can cut and crop images, apply batch conversions, add, sharpen, or blur effects, create panoramas, and change color modes easily. The program continues to add support for an array of file formats and has plug-in support for most image, video, and sound formats, including MP3, AVI, audio CD, and WMA. The interface is far from fancy but should be easy enough for most users to figure out. An IrfanView Thumbnails shortcut on the desktop offers an Explorer-like file tree that quickly displays all images in a particular folder. Though IrfanView works does what it does well, it's not going to replace a major paint program. IrfanView wraps a nice set of features for an image viewer in a free, compact download.

  "Still one of the best!!"

  Pros: Fast launching, very feature-rich too. You can download plug-ins from the IrfanView site, to extend its capabilities. You can play video, music, and view images. And you get it for free? It's great, plain great. It also doesn't install any malware in your PC. I donated to this app, it's great! It's very customizable too. You can also save image files as .ico (icon file), which is very uncommon in image viewers/editors. Get it now!

  Cons: The interface is not THAT nice, fancy, and intuitive. One more thing, it can never compete with paid apps like ACDSee/PowerPack or ThumbsPlus and Ashampoo Photo Commander. If you have lots of money to spend, I'd prefer ACDSee/PowerPack with ThumbsPlus and Ashampoo Photo Commander.

  "Good use of program"

  Pros: If you are really desperatly looking for a program that can edit images, then its here. Look no further, this program is fast and a easy-to-use device. I can assure you that it has no virus, spyware, adware and etc. It is a safe program to use, and I'm sure that everyone will be able to trust it. It is simple and has clear images. It is a great program that I'm sure you'll enjoy.

  Cons: Its just that you can't view video/movie files and etc, but you can view gif, jpg and so-on.

  Pros: For many years I am using this marvelous apllication. It fast and comes with a terrific user interface. And above all, it is free!

  Cons: IrfanView cannot play partially downloaded movie files.

  Pros: This program lets you open images for editing fast. No wait or flipping through the help docs like in photoshop. Highly recommended for image editing.
