If you need to free up system memory or if you think you do, but aren't sure this little tool will provide the help you need.

Instant Memory Cleaner provides an easy-to-use front-end interface for Microsoft's command-line ClearMem and FreeMem commands (for XP and Vista, respectively). This free download installs an icon to your system tray, and its color provides a handy clue about your system's memory use. For instance, when the icon is green, the system's free memory is more than 30 percent of the total physical memory; yellow means less is available; and red means its time for action.

We liked the informative small pane that opened when we clicked the tray icon. This pane displayed the megabytes of free physical memory and included a check box that verified whether Instant Memory Cleaner would launch at boot. Also included are buttons for launching a memory-cleaning session, opening Help, minimizing the pane, or exiting the utility. A final button opens a fresh pane (again, nicely designed) with details on current memory use, including megabytes of Total Physical Memory, megabytes of Memory in Use, and percentage of Memory in Use.

  "Effective memory cleaner."

  Pros: Instant Memory Cleaner is simple to use, it has 8 buttons on it.

  1. Real time free memory indicator.

  2. This box can be checked if you want instant memory cleaner, to load on windows startup.

  3. Is the tool tip area, that will say load on startup or instant memory cleaner.

  4. Is for running instant memory cleaner.

  5. Opens the help file.

  6. Will minimize instant memory cleaner to the system tray.

  7. This button shuts down instant memory cleaner.

  8. This button opens a small window, with all of the current memory details of your system.

  It shows a disk icon in the system tray, that has three quarter colors. If the quarter color is green, it's best to let windows handle the memory as it is. If the quarter color is yellow, it means your free memory is between 1/10 and 3/10 of it's size. If the quarter color is red, it means your free memory is less than than 1/10 of it's size based on a 512MB system. So instant memory cleaner should only be ran, if the quarter color is yellow or red.

  Cons: No option for how much memory you want to free.

  "Very effective...."

  Pros: I've tried this product alongside FreeRamXP, and I can honestly say I like Instant Memory Cleaner better. It seems to free more memory than any other RAM cleaner I've tried.

  Cons: It can be a little slow at times.

  Pros: None, glad I had Spyware Doctor. DON"T DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Cons: THIS FILE CONTAINS A VIRUS CALLED Adware.Rabio, Spyware doctor picked it up while i was installing it. DON"T DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
