Many software programs add themselves to the Windows StartUp areas (registry locations or the Startup folder). Each time you start your computer these programs get started as well then show icons in your system tray or perform other background tasks. They take up valuable memory and processing time, slowing down your computer and delaying its startup. Many of these programs are useless and annoying. Innovative Startup Firewall is a program that not only guards your Windows Startup locations; it also gives you precious advice concerning those programs' safety. Every time a program adds itself to startup, the Startup Firewall notifies you and asks whether you want to allow the program into your startup or not. You can also see the estimated safety rating for the new software based on several aspects (if it's digitally signed, if it contains dangerous functions, if it was shipped through a Windows update, etc). After you make an "allow" or "deny" decision, Innovative Startup Firewall will enforce your choice automatically, without bothering you.
Version 4.0 offers detailed safety advice concerning the newly detected programs.
