This simple, free add-on lets you search for definitions within your current browser window. Inline Google Definitions worked well overall, but we found that it was missing a few minor conveniences along the way.

Highlight any word while browsing the Web, right-click, and Inline Google Definitions quickly lists definitions in a pop-up window. The pop-up window can be closed or maximized to a full page. Beware, though: If you choose to maximize the window to a full page, your current page will be replaced by the Google definitions site. Sure, you can just navigate back to the previous page, but this is the one case where it would have been nice if a new tab or a new window was introduced so that you can close it when you're finished and continue working. Even so, each time we highlighted a word, the program listed a wide variety of definitions and links to reference sources. Oddly, though, the definitions provided don't include the word pronunciation, which is standard in most dictionaries.

Despite a few setbacks, Inline Google Definitions is a great tool to have on hand for quick definitions.
