We heard complaints that NetStumbler doesn't with Windows Vista and 64-bit Windows XP, so we decided to build an open-source Wi-Fi network scanner designed for the current generation of Windows operating system. Pros
Very nice and simple. Used NetStumbler once. Now it will not see my USB 2.0 wireless device no matter what I do. With InSSIDer install and scan. No problems. Shows my hidden SSID as well as MAC, what type of security I'm using and speed. Shows signal strength in graph form also. Can save to file.
Cons
I've just installed this and so far no problems.

Pros
Makes a pretty graph (scope style) of available APs. Also shows MAC addresses and SSIDs (usually hidden in windows networking).
Cons
it recommends Chanalyzer and other software to add to the functionality. more downloads from what site?? no thanks.
