The premise behind this Internet Explorer plug-in--to extract images from Web pages--sounds like a great idea. The problem is that constant error and stability issues prevented us from seeing that idea play out.

ImageExtractor's interface is not at all intuitive; you have to view the publisher's Web site just to figure out how to add the program to your IE toolbar. What's more, not one, not two, but three shortcuts were added to our desktop, which is a lot of desktop clutter for one program. Once activated, a window is introduced on the left side of the screen for setting the dimensions of the image extractions. You can set the depth, the number of images, and the dimensions of the extractions, among other things. No matter how many times we tweaked the extraction settings, we continued to receive an error message that wouldn't allow us to view the images. We also couldn't browse while the program was active because our page was frozen. Even more annoying, it took a restart to remove all of the unnecessary icons from our desktop.

ImageExtractor is a program that works much better in theory than practice. Simply put, there are just too many issues with it to warrant a download.

Publisher's description

From Icegiant Software :

ImageExtractor is an Internet Explorer plug-in tool that searches a Web site from your computer for images that meet your defined criteria. The extractor quickly downloads the images and generates a variety of views. If you are tired of unnecessary text getting in the way of your image viewing, then this is the tool for you. This tool integrates seamlessly into Internet Explorer so you don't have to run a separate program to find out which site you wish to view. While browsing, you simply click the Extract button and ImageExtractor does the rest.

ImageExtractor 2003 is a suite of three image extractor tools: original Image extractor and Internet Explorer plug-in; One click image extractor; Image Extractor Advanced.
