CNET Editors' review
This handy program allows users to convert files from TIFFs to JPEGs, JPEGs to GIFs, and much more. Novices will find it simple and easy to use, but professional users will probably want more robust conversion features.
Image Converter's interface is minimal and most options are not difficult to find. Most of the programs features can be accessed from the top or right-hand menus. Though it allows the user to convert files from JPEG to GIF and the like, it would be much more useful to professional photographers and advanced amateurs if it had an option of converting RAW files to JPEGs. Also, oddly, the program does not include the option of manually setting pixel dimensions; rather, it gives the user the option of setting bits per pixel. The program's strength lies in adding simple effects with one click. Your original file appears in the interface alongside a preview window that shows you what the effect will look like, once you click the effects check box. Novices will find that this process suits their needs perfectly; however, more advanced users will wish for more control.
The program has a Help file, so if users need assistance with the program, they can find it there. Overall, Image Converter is better suited for the hobbyist who does not shoot in the raw format and is looking for an inexpensive program with which he can manipulate images. For photography professionals, however, we recommend looking for a more robust image conversion and editing program.
Publisher's Description
From SoftTech InterCorp:
This image-conversion program supports conversions in more than 15 formats. It features more than 20 effects, which can be applied in any conversion process, even in batch mode.
The included image conversion wizard helps with a step-by-step dialog that allows you to select files, set conversion properties (for example, JPEG to BMP), apply effects, and set how the converted files will be named. Batch support allows you to add thousands of images to be converted, and with a single-click Image Converter. EXE can convert, rename, and add effects in accordance with your settings. To make the process simpler, the MediaView Extension, allows converting among image types and applying effects simply by right clicking on photos in Windows Explorer. The program supports conversion to the following formats: JPEG, GIF, PIC, TIFF, BMP, DCX, DIB, JIF, PBM, PCX, PGM, PNG, PPM, TGA, and WPG. Version 2.0.82 is a bug fixing release.

"Useless...."
Version: Image Converter .EXE 2.0.82
Pros
Nice interface
Cons
Doesn't convert WPG's (it says it does, but clicking on any of them just gives an error message); Doesn't convert WMF's at all...Not even listed.
Nice tool, but too limited for use with salvaging old files...Summary
If it works with one of the 15 or so filetypes you need, it's probably worth the money. Otherwise, don't bother...

"Decent Product"
Version: Image Converter .EXE 2.0.82
Pros
Simple to use UI is intuitive
Cons
On right clicking on a file (i.e. select to modify a file) my screen would go blank and reset it self. In other words I experienced a problem with the right click select feature. Other than that the app works as advertised
Summary
Aside from program crashing when using the right click shortcut, it works fine. I uninstalled since that glitch was to bothersome.

"Does what I need easily"
Version: Image Converter .EXE 2.0.82
Pros
Converts PCX files to something useful. Easy to use. Fast to download. Fast to install. That usually indicates elegant programming.
Cons
None None None.... Had to say it 3 times, cos 10 characters were demanded !
Summary
A1.... 100%.... I like it.

"works as desired"
Version: Image Converter .EXE 2.0.82
Pros
Although an image converter may seem like a simple thing, it's a little tough finding an inexpensive one which converts a broad range of files easily.
Cons
The conversion to jpg is Anti-alias only. Wish it had an option for non AA image conversion although my immediate needs are for AA conversion
Summary
Easy to use simple interface, converts the files as required & also has cropping & etc. The trial version is useless as it stopped working before I could compare it to other image converters. Still the full version works as promise tho.
