Though it claims to save you time by organizing your collection of CDs and DVDs, this program only partially copes with the task. The easy-to-navigate interface arranges files in a tree and can be spruced up with one of two skins. We were able to start adding discs by importing a sample database, but we had a tough time figuring out how to create one from scratch. Also, in terms of overall functionality, this application leaves something to be desired. You can't search files by information such as artist or genre, and Here It Is can't access the CDDB to automatically download song information. We also wish you could add notes to a file or folder. We like the tool that lets you track discs you have lent, and the compilation feature is another nice plus. However, the trial version will only let you import information from 10 discs. Here It Is might be a solution for folks buried beneath tons of discs, although we'd suggest looking for a program with more power first.

Here It Is allows you to easily add, browse, and search your CD, DVD, ZIP, JAZ, and other removable discs. Besides that, you can create customizable HTML and reports for an entire collection, one group, or just one disc. At the moment, the program includes powerful file filters for graphic files (BMP, JPEG, GIF, and PNG), sound files (WAV, MP3, OGG, and Monkey's Audio), ZIP archives, and HTML files, which gather more information about files on your discs. Now you can easily create your data compilations. Select files you want to burn, and the program will ask for the original discs where those files are located and prepare a compilation. All you have to do is insert blank media. Version 1.5.115 adds the ability to scan fixed drives (your hard disk) and to choose whether hidden and system files will be included.
