There are many toolbars in the world vying for space on your browser window. This is another one, but it has some features worth checking out, particularly for researchers or students looking up info for writing papers.
Hakia Scoopbar is a free toolbar for Internet Explorer. Its focus is its search engine. It installs a simple toolbar that--unlike many other toolbars--is uncluttered and includes only a search field and two buttons. On the other hand, these three elements take up an inordinate amount of space in a browser window that may already be losing viewing real estate to multiple other toolbars and command bars.
In our tests, Hakia Scoopbar's search engine performed quickly and responded with relevant results, but no better or faster than others. The real beauty of it came when you clicked a link in the results, which not only navigated to the cited page, but scrolled to the pertinent content and highlighted it, accompanied by a Scoop icon. Clicking the icon saved the highlighted info as an HTML document on the hard drive and opened a new browser window with the info--along with previous selections and the links we'd saved with Scoop.
This is a handy feature for researchers, quickly and easily saving items that you can access later with no muss and fuss. If you perform a lot of Web research, this free toolbar is certainly worth a try.
