"Get the 5400C software = sj668en.exe It works!!!"
Pros: Download the 62 Mb software for the 5400c and install that. Choose as TWAIN WIA-Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 5100C. (Could be coming on my PC from an earlier try with other software). It now works with IrfanView. Not (yet) with the HP Precisionscan Pro icon on the desktop.
Install this software with unconnected scannner. Shut down the PC, connect the scanner and restart the PC.
In my case this did the trick op Windows XP SP2 Dutch.

"doesn't work, i have another solution"
Summary: the solution for Windows XP is the following:
download HP5200C drivers(sj662en.exe) install them
reset pc, with scanner connected, then install update sj660mu.exe, reset your pc again, and ik works fine under XP - See all 80 user reviews Write review
