CNET Editors' review
Even the best guitar players can sometimes benefit from a little help in tuning. This software takes over the role of a traditional guitar tuning device, with a range of ways it can be used. If a computer has a microphone input, musicians can play their instruments into the machine itself, and the software will analyze the note. It includes a few advanced display features such as a frequency spectrum analyzer. If the computer lacks a microphone, the software will simply play notes at the pitches desired, helping the guitar player tune by ear. The program is Java-based, so it can be used on most modern operating systems. Its interface is smart and intuitive, with a handful of eye-catching graphics that don't overload the program with menus or unnecessary options. We would have liked to see a few alternate temperaments or tunings available, but on the whole, this flexible tool will fit the needs of the vast majority of guitar players.Publisher's Description
From Guitarpad:
Guitarpad Freeware Tuner automatically tunes your guitar using your computer microphone. If no microphone is available, the software will play the notes, allowing you to tune by ear. Guitarpad tuner works on Windows systems.

"Free means FREE - this is NOT free!"
Version: Guitarpad Free Digital Tuner 1.2
Pros
Looks promising...
Cons
Looks aren't everything...
Tuner crashes in mic mode on my system. Import/export doesn't work correctly. NO PLAYBACK!!!! Mic input support ONLY - if it doesn't support Audio IN then it's fairly useless (BUT it's free). No alternate tunings (BUT - it's free). Only it's NOT really free...
Pseudo-freeware ISN'T cool at all, and "greyed-out" features ARE limitations...duhh
There are several far better alternatives available and this should end up as puff-ware: blow it off your drive.....

"cute"
Version: Guitarpad Free Digital Tuner 1.2
Pros
Its a cute little program. The tuning bit works fine. I only wanted to check out the tuner, but the lyrics bit seems to work fine. I still need to test putting other songs in, but seems to all work well enough
Cons
Well so far, it seems quite cool. Nothing to say yet.

Standard guitar tuner.
Identifies\shows hundredes of guitar chords including many minors.
Cons
Installed ok under W98SE, but kept pulling up the text page for my java install when I tried to open it.
