In Greedy Spiders, your job is to rescue helpless flies being hunted by one or sometimes several hungry arachnids. Each fly is thoroughly trapped in web, but with a simple tap of your finger you're able to cut individual strands to eventually free them all. The problem is, every time you make a move, the spiders get to make one, inching themselves progressively closer to their prey.
To start, you get to cut a single strand of web per turn. A good strategy is to either snip near the spider to cut off its route, or snip one of the several strands ensnaring each fly. It may sound fairly simple, but make no mistake, these spiders are incredibly efficient at traveling around their webs. And to make things more difficult, the later levels add more flies to rescue, and more spiders to avoid, some of which have different patterns of movement.
Luckily, though, as you progress through the game you gain new weapons to help even things up a bit. There is a Fire tool that can burn entire nodes of webbing, a decoy fly to lead spiders away from your friends, and a life preserver that instantly releases a fly of your choice. But, of course, you only get a limited number of these special weapons, so you must pick your moves wisely.
Overall, we think Greedy Spiders is a superaddictive brain-teaser that provides a different kind of entertainment from many of the physics-based puzzles flooding the Android Market. It doesn't test your reflexes or your ability to manipulate your phone's gyroscope. Rather, this game asks you to put on your thinking cap. So, if you're into slower-paced puzzle games that let you sit and plot your every move, we think you'll really love Greedy Spiders.
