This Internet Explorer add-on lets you browse and tag videos directly from a handy toolbar, but its spotty performance leaves little to be desired. In typical toolbar fashion, Gotuit Toolbar stretches itself across your IE window. All the standard components are there--e-mail notifier, pop-up blocker, weather forecast--and you have the option of adding popular applications like Microsoft Word and Excel.

We were able to successfully search such popular sites as YouTube, Google Video, and Metacafe directly from the toolbar. Gotuit touts its Make a Scene feature, which is supposed to let you pull scenes directly from your favorite videos to share. This proved to be problematic because, first, you have to register and create a profile on Scenemaker.com, and second, we couldn't get the feature to work after we registered. We repeatedly received an error message each time we tried to activate it. The toolbar includes buttons for preloaded video links, but, more often than not, the videos were unavailable for viewing.

If the very features that are supposed to make a toolbar stand out don't function properly, then why bother? There are plenty of other free toolbars out there with workable features.
