CNET Editors' review
If you don't have a map app on your smartphone, download Google Maps. Now. The free mapping app gets more powerful and indispensable with every update. It can predict your location using GPS or cell tower triangulation, and use that fix to find businesses near you and calculate directions for driving, walking, even taking public transit. You'll be able to click to call locations, and send details to friends via text.
Map layers include traffic flows and points of interest on Wikipedia as you switch between satellite and map views. If you're into Google Latitude, a social-networking geolocation feature, you'll also be able to track friends. The latest version of the map app can sync your favorite places on the phone and online, so you can revisit a spot on the map no matter where you are in real life. The possibilities for growing Google Maps for Mobile are endless, but we'd settle for adding voice searches next.

"A very useful mapping program"
Version: Google Maps for Windows Mobile 1.2
Pros
I use it all the time while figuring routing in a Tractor Trailer. Very Useful. I purchased a GPS portable receiver that attached to my key ring to improve the accuracy. which it did. Real happy with it all.

I would like to see the Accuracy be better. But you can still see where you are and get where you need to be.

"Fantastic tool. Will soon replace GPS"
Version: Google Maps for Windows Mobile 1.2
Pros
Have used it many a times in UK when i got a bit confused between the roads but didnt want to turn my GPS (garmin) on.
Google maps gives fast and extremely user freindly access to local maps.
It even detects your position within 1.5 mile radius. Am sure this radius will get smaller as time passess and one day it will replace GPS!!
Cons
Cant not like anything about Google Maps.
