Publisher's Description
From Google:
Google Maps for mobile is a free download that lets you view maps and satellite imagery, find local businesses, and get driving directions on your mobile device. Since the application is designed for users on-the-go, it provides features like click-to-call and saved search history that are especially useful for mobile phone users. Maps for mobile works with most Java-enabled (J2ME) mobile phones offered by Cingular and Sprint, and all color BlackBerry devices regardless of carrier. At this time, Local for mobile doesn't work with Nextel, T-Mobile or BREW-enabled phones (Verizon, Alltel, U.S. Cellular), or Palm devices. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

"Does the job, need extended screen support"
Version: Google Maps for Palm 1.2
Pros
This program loads fast, and displays maps very quickly and is very stable on the T|X. Maps are rendered with very good clarity and navigation is intuitive.
Cons
There is no support for the T|X's extended screen, which would be great, especially in landscape mode because there would be a much larger map area to view.
Summary
This is a great application for the Palm T|X and you certainly can't beat the price. Let's hope that the next version will allow T|X users to use the full capability of their display.
-

Cons

"1.2 was good, 2.0 is even better"
Version: Google Maps for Palm 1.2
Pros
Version 2.0.2.0 came out at the end of August 2008. It is faster, especially when scrolling the map.
Cons
Still doesn't have GPS-type location functions built in.
Summary
This is essential software for a Treo phone.
-
"It works with my Palm TX however, it has limited function unlike a portable GPS."
Version: Google Maps for Palm 1.2
Pros
The map is good as long as you are connected to the internet.
Cons
It doesn't have a driving direction. Still a cumbersome. Needs some improvement.

"Outstanding software of its type at any cost ... needs WiFi"
Version: Google Maps for Palm 1.2
Pros
Works smoothly on the T3 (with WiFi Card). Reasonably nimble access, making it very useful. Access to both maps, and satellite pics. Able to locate addresses, Cities, etc... Gotta' try this one. One of the best freeware I've ever loaded on my Palm.
Cons
Requires WiFi hotspot.
