Google Maps has been a godsend for anyone who needs directions and has access to a PC. This software brings that power to some mobile devices, with a free download that taps into the same system of maps and satellite imagery, driving directions and route-planning services. The interface is similar to the original Web-based Google Maps, with menu picks conveniently mapped to the phone's buttons. Searches work quickly, allowing users to look not only for cities, streets, and buildings, but for businesses such as restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The service eats up a substantial portion of GPRS/3G bandwidth, but runs smoothly. The download works for color Blackberry devices and most Java phones offered by Cingular and Sprint, but other US-based carriers, or phones that use Palm or BREW are out of luck. If your phone can use this download, we recommend it highly as a way to keep from getting lost in a foreign city or your own hometown.Publisher's description

Since the application is designed for users on-the-go, it provides features like click-to-call and saved search history that are especially useful for mobile phone users. Maps for mobile works with most Java-enabled (J2ME) mobile phones offered by Cingular and Sprint, and all color BlackBerry devices regardless of carrier. At this time, Local for mobile doesn't work with Nextel, T-Mobile or BREW-enabled phones (Verizon, Alltel, U.S. Cellular), or Palm devices.

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do.
Cons: Nothing as far as I can see with the limited use I have given it so far.
Summary: Seems to be a good overall travel map program for the Nokia smart phone.
