CNET Editors' review
Thanks to this program's step-by-step tips, managing your files and folders is as simple as a few clicks of your mouse. GoodSync successfully synchronized important files between folders on our computer, as well as on our USB device.
To a novice, the user interface might appear a bit overwhelming; however, step-by-step pop-up windows will quickly guide you through navigating the program. All we had to do was browse for the two folders that we wanted to synchronize. We were even able to browse for files on external devices, including a USB thumb drive. The program quickly analyzed our folders and displayed their contents into two separate panels. We were able to pick out the specific files to include in the synchronization and, using the Sync feature, we synced the folders so that they each contained the same files. We were able to view all of the changes, as well as any conflicts or errors. You can apply filters using the Program Options menu.
The program doesn't include a built-in help feature, but it does feature an online manual and FAQ through the publisher's Web site, and the 30-day trial is more than enough time to find your bearings. We highly recommend this file synchronization tool for all user levels.

"Works great but a bit complex."
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
It works. Seems powerful.
Cons
A bit complicated
Summary
I set this up when I wanted to sync my music and photos on a hard drive with an external before I wiped the hard drive. Goodsync did the job just fine. But I had to work to figure out how to set the job up. The setup was not intuitive or simple to me.
-
"Great product."
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
Easy to use. Easy to install. East to update. Does exactly what I want it to do.
Cons
None I can think of.
Summary
Recommend this highly to anyone.
-
"works great ANDhandles unicode -- unlike others!"
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
The unicode is most important for me; but, the ability to handle portable drives and create bsck-pup cases sure helps
Cons
little bit antiquated interface; but, I can clearly live with it!
Summary
Great Value for doing incremental back-ups to a master HD. I do not use it to Sync. I have 100 MB on my PC and 1.5 TB on my external USB HD and have no intention of Synching! GoodSync offers the coice -- although I hd to call Tech Support to find the box to uncheck! But, that was quick and easy.

"Have used it often. Always works perfectly."
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
Easy to use.
Cons
No negative comments.
-
"Will delete your data!"
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
Right now, absolutely none.
Cons
Non-English tech support.
Support phone number does not work.
Deletes your data.
Syncing does not work.Summary
Goodsync used to be a great tool for keeping almost anything in sync - until the latest update. Now it wipes data from your servers, and from your local disks.
Worst of all, their customer support refuses to acknowledge the problems instead asking their paying customers to buy new computers, to change servers or more recently to call their customers stupid and unable to comprehend their replies - which are written of couse in broken English. -
"GoodSync is one of the first utilities I install."
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
I have been using GoodSync Pro for years. GoodSync is intuitive, fast, and customizable. One of the things I really appreciate is that it is updated often & always without a hitch. I also appreciate that it will sync mapped network drives.
Cons
Can't think of any.
Summary
Very nice utility.
-
"Don't buy it, choose other for same price or less"
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
I can't list any.
Cons
Extremely slow.
Complicated setup.
Bad support.Summary
Extremely slow. Before sync it first performs an analyse what can last twice than the sync itself (this feature is called preview in some other sync software and is optional).
If analyse fails i.e. because of network failure there's no resume option, one has to wait 3-4 hours again if syncing many files.
Same when sync fails, no resume so analyse again for hours.
Pause is not persisted, so if computer has to be restarted in middle of a long sync analyse has to be started from scratch.
Rather buy othe sync software where preview is optional.
Complicated setup.
Support's best answer for the problems I've reported was to get me faster network connection and faster disk. Other answers were 'we wont implement that feature' without any explanation.
Disgusting people who doesn't value paying customers (I've bought their software). -
"Easy to use, fast"
Version: GoodSync 8.6
Pros
Lots of flexiblity.
Cons
I have'nt encountered any negative features.
Summary
I really like it and use it more than once per week.
-
"Simple, affordable file sync utility"
Version: GoodSync 8.6

Cons
Updates are too frequent
Summary
I've used this utiltiy for several years and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to keep their files backed up automatically or needs to keep files in sync between multiple computers.
