Version: GoldWave 5.16
"Easy to use but powerfull editor"
Pros: Lots of effects and advanced editing. Full support for plug-ins. Does not take up a lot of memory.
Cons: The selection process is a little cumbersome with start and end markers rather than just click and drag to select.

Version: GoldWave 5.16
"A lot of bang for your bucks"
Pros: I use this program to edit my own recordings of classical music, so I haven't used many of the effects, but those that I have used (fading, volume adjustment, equalizer, etc,) work well. I find it possible to undertake basic editing with great precision. The display is very well designed, with the clearest waveform that I have come across yet. The program appears to be reliable and stable. And the fact that it is regularly updated reassures me about the commitment of its developers, as there are a fair few charlatans around in this particular field. For such a modest price, I think it's astonishingly good value.
Cons: I agree with dani72 that it would be nice to have a slightly slicker system for defining blocks for processing, but it's not a very serious shortcoming in view of all the other advantages.
