Publisher's description of Gizmo Drive 2.6
From Arainia Solutions:Gizmo Drive is a virtual device simulator which allows you to create password protected hard disk images with its proprietary GDRIVE format. Gizmo Drive also supports a number of standard image formats including: ISO, VHD, BIN, IMG, NRG, CCD, MDS, and MDF. These images can be mounted to any of the 26 virtual devices made available by Gizmo Drive's virtual device driver. When an image is mounted, it appears as an actual hard drive or CD/DVD-ROM device in Windows Explorer. These devices can be used to achieve a superior performance increase whenever a CD/DVD-ROM disc is extracted to its ISO form and mounted from the hard drive instead. Virtual devices are great for archiving purposes as well, and generally they are good at freeing up desk space by eliminating the need of having discs scattered all over the office.
Version 2.6 adds the ability to burn ISO images and implements support for 64-bit Windows.

Version: Gizmo Drive 2.6
"Caution: Not a standalone image mounter!"
Pros: modern sleeky design
Cons: Gizmo Drive is just a plugin to Gizmo Central which is included in download. Gizmo Central is a configurable shortcut manager (not what I needed).

"new version worse than the old one"
Pros: versions 2.5 and below worked great! Still works fine for mounting drives
Cons: I get odd messeges which might have to do with (on winXP) the installation of Service pack 3, New disks Fail to read, (while working fine on other software).
I haven't burned one disk successfully since this update, and wasted quite a few. keeps requesting outdated updates!!

Version: Gizmo Drive 2.6
"Seamless virtual, excellent bonus features."
Pros: Reviewer hrobky is correct - this "GDrive" is not just an image mounter, it is run through the Gizmo Manager, which is installed by this download. However, if you only want the image mounter, it works fine and is pretty self-explanatory, and can be accessed by right clicking on a mountable disc image file, as mentioned by mauriciogracia. The reason you must reboot first is the virtual drive engine, the GDRIVE, runs through a RUNDLL32.exe file which must be booted with the OS (check Run->Msconfig.exe->Startup).
I've had no problems with the virtual drive mounter, and futhermore, I've found the tool bar option in the Gizmo Manager is an excessively useful tool; I've even set Gizmo to boot up with Windows now. I used to have a lot of icons on my desktop, many I rarely used, so I set these to various tool bars which disappear when I'm not hovering nearby (much like Mac operating systems, but more customizable, and less gay). My desktop now has a much cleaner look to it, and it's also nice in that, if my display settings get messed up and all of my icons are rearranged, I don't have to do a lot of reorganizing because the majority of my icons are now located on the third-party tool bars.
If you've got the time to play around with it, I highly recommend it, and if you only want it for the virtual drive, I have no complaints.
Cons: It can be a little fidgety, as with all Windows things, but for the most part it's a very reliable program with a nice interface, and I've had no problems with the virtual drive whatsoever.
