"A lot of work for nothing."

    March 31, 2010  |   By RodFive

    Version: GameEx 10.42

    Pros

I'm told I HAVE to find something positive to report about this product. I'm sorry but I can't even uninstall.

    Cons

It can take hours to install everything. When done, there is nothing to show for it.
I expected a lot of ancient arcade games. Not the case. I couldn't find anything to play.

    Summary

There is no Uninstall so I'll have to delete entire folders then run a RegChecker to remove all the references to these folders.

"Those who gave this bad reviews dont know what it it"

    Version: GameEx 9.42

    Pros

For anyone that is thinking about using this frontend for their cabinet or computer, do it! this is a great program. In response to those who gave it bad reviews; this is not a gaming program, it is a frontend for access to gaming programs to make it look pretty and easy to use in a home-made arcade cabinet. Dont give something a bad review just because you arent smart enough to read the docs and figure out what they are telling you

    "Spend hours setting this up"

    June 21, 2008  |   By BrianZachary

    Version: GameEx 9.36

    Pros

It seems to be a convenient way to keep all your emulators into one bundled program. I say "seems to" for the reasons listen in the Cons.

    Cons

Once this is installed and after restarting the computer, the setup wizard pops up for this program. Ok, that's fine. A lot of programs have a setup wizard. No problem.

The problem is that it has a LOT of options to go through in the setup wizard, and I mean a LOT of them. I spent literally HOURS going through everything, at least 3 hours, and I finally got tired of it and just exited the setup wizard and uninstalled the program.

I understand there are a lot of individual emulators and everything, but when you have to go through each one's settings right away through this program, and it takes that long to do so, it can easily put off anyone who doesn't have that much patience.

I think it would be better to just set up the options for this program itself, then each emulator as you use them the first time. That would make more sense to me.

If you are the type of person who likes video games, you might give this a try, but if you have no patience to sit and go through ten million options, you probably will want to steer clear of this program. Maybe they will make it better in a future version.

"So how do you play a game???"

    May 16, 2008  |   By lordmachiavelli

    Version: GameEx 9.27

    Cons

10 minutes to install and couldn't even put an icon on the desktop.

When you start up, there is a very long wait, and then a nag screen that boasts about how their product is so professional, and 2 options. 1)Donate 2)Show me the benefits of donating. Picking number two closes the application. Clicking on this screen, and waiting a very long time, will eventually bring you to the interface. Clicking on the game option here, brings you to there web page. Nothing about playing games here, but there are options on the left column that say Most Popular Games, and Tutorials. Tutorials didn't bring up much information about playing games. Pulling up the list of most popular games does actually bring a list of games up, but about half were not clickable. Clicking on one of these games gave me all kinds of stats and ratings about the game, but no option to download or play anything. (It also pulls up IE, NOT my default browser!) A half hour on this site and I still can't play a simple game. It's not like I'm computer illiterate - I've been working with computers since the late 70's. I don't know how many more hoops to go through to actually play a game, but I'm not wasting any more time finding out. There are hundreds of games here I can play with a handful of obvious clicks. Application uninstalled.

P.S. - incidentally, add/remove programs reported this thing as taking up 271Megs, and left almost 50Megs of crap after uninstalling. Pretty nifty trick for a 19Meg download.
