Version: GSPlayer 2.24
Pros: Plays streams, switches off screen when on battery mode so saves battery power (you need to keep GSPlayer on top for this).
Very extensive options
You can download CAB files and install directly on PDA, so no need to mess up your desktop.
Cons: Needs work with equalizer, but other options work fine. Recommended to choose bass boost.

Version: GSPlayer 2.24
"Not pretty, but it's my favourite one"
Pros: Allows you to program the hardware buttons to your liking and lock them out after some play time has elapsed. The playlist tools include the ability to simply find all media within a directory. No gliches in the software.
Cons: The user interface could be prettier.
