Publisher's description of FrostWire
From FrostWire:FrostWire is a fork of the very popular LimeWire PRO Gnutella/Bittorrent client. The purpose of FrostWire is to keep and maintain the freedoms that LimeWire LLC may be forced to withdraw. Share any type of file on Gnutella and the Bittorrent network.
Version 4.18 fixes Bittorrent Incompatibilities, bug on Welcome Screen and caches the last 2 images shown on the Welcome Screen to save bandwidth from static servers.
CNET Editor's Note:
Editor's Note: FrostWire is bundled with Ask.com toolbar. Installation of these component is optional.

- Version reviewed: FrostWire 4.18
FrostWire is a fork of the LimeWire source code, and as such, it functions exactly the same. When you search for a file using FrostWire, you get results from LimeWire, and vice versa.
However, the user experience differs in two ways. One is that the code is actually based on LimeWire Pro, the paid version of the popular P2P client, so users don't have to worry about simultaneous download restrictions, and they won't get bombarded by ads. Also, befitting the name, the interface has changed from green to blue and has been slightly improved. Tabs have rounded corners, and there are two additions, as well. Connections monitors your outgoing and incoming connections by host name, but also provides bandwidth information, the vendor and version being used, and more. There's also a built-in community chat.
When we tested it, the built-in media player in FrostWire didn't work with MP3s or MPGs, although those files worked fine in LimeWire and elsewhere. The app also comes bundled with the ASK toolbar, but you can opt out of that during the installation process. While some people have experienced faster download times with FrostWire compared with its parent, others have not. FrostWire and LimeWire are practically indistinguishable, although the lack of ads is a big plus.

"total rubbish. at first works good then just flops"

Cons: To much to list the things i do not like about this. Tip If you use your updates must be fully updated to work. Even then its poor slow
Summary: Slow slow slow slow slow is all i can say, or need more sources of waiting on busy host. This was good 1 year ago now its just rubbish.

Version: FrostWire 4.18
"I have tried many & this one's the cream of the crop!"
Pros: Searches thoroughly, and quickly. Great options, easy to use. It's the best out there!
Cons: Search results sometimes gives you crappy downloads, but if you do the settings to make it so you get informed if it comes to a corrupt file, you can cancel download immediately. With a good firewall and antivirus, you should have no problems. :D
Summary: I have looked everywhere for Hanoi Rocks songs, and some I still cannot get, but this application has gotten me at least 70% of what I want. :)
Happy downloading! ;) - See all 41 user reviews Write review
