Publisher's description of Fring for iPhone
From fring:Use fring to make free mobile calls, send instant messages (chat)and transfer files to other fring users and PC-based services such as Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, SIP Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM at no cost beyond your existing 3G/GPRS Internet data plan or free Wi-Fi access, rather than using costly airtime minutes. Combining all of your contacts into one, integrated & searchable list, fring indicates who's online (presence status) and available before dialing. All you need to use fring is a 3G handset with Internet connectivity that is already available from your mobile service provider or through your nearest Wi-Fi hotspot. fring is PC-independent, does not require any proprietary hardware or airtime, and works with phones purchased through any mobile operator. fring is as easy to download as a ringtone.

Editor's review of Fring for iPhone

- "Free and cheap iPhone calls"
- Reviewed on: December 9, 2008
- Version reviewed: Fring for iPhone 1.0.2.4
The free Fring for iPhone is a compelling VoIP caller and multinetwork chat app in one. Tap over to the add-ons section to talk to friends using Skype, SIP, and Windows Live Messenger (MSN), Google Talk, and ICQ's protocols. Like plugging a headset into the PC, Fring's app spells cheap calls to international contacts. Beware though, you'll need a strong Wi-Fi connection to make or receive VoIP calls.
In addition to stretching out your vocal chords, Fring can open conversations for the IM networks above, as well as for AIM and Yahoo. Signing into Twitter from Fring lets you easily read your friends' feeds and update your own status.
While Fring wins points for its solid functionality, it also earns plenty for style. We like the scrolling buddy list with large lettering, the dialer, and the ability to punch one of two huge buttons after selecting a contact's name to place a chat or call. Fring has no capability to monitor your minutes, no hold button, and none of the other accouterments you might want for a regular phone dialer. However, most folks interested in inexpensive overseas bonding will be thrilled with this quick, dirty, and downright decent VoIP caller for iPhone.

Version: Fring for iPhone 1.0.2.4
"Iphone does not ring with incoming calls."
Pros: nothing good to talk about here
Cons: It took 2 weeks for my account to be verified, and once it was all the rest of the problems began, 1. Phone does not ring, 2, Outgoing calls, I need to dial out an average of 25 times before the call goes out.
Summary: This is a crap application, and worst SKYPE blames Fring and Fring blames SKYPE. In the meantime guess who is screwed??? No brainer folks. I want my money from SKYPE and they won't refund because they blame Fring.
