We're not big fans of any program that doesn't give you a way to remove it, especially when it's added directly to the registry. Novice userd may be scared of Freeway Driving Directions for Internet Explorer as soon as they hit download. A warning message comes up and asks if you're sure you want to add the file to the registry. If you bravely say yes, you won't get a single notification that the program is ready to go.

In addition, there's no Help file, no dedicated user interface, and no way to know how to use the program. Persistent users who check out the publisher's site will be rewarded with a few more bits of information. In essence, you'll need to do some setup beforehand to even have a hope of getting this program to work. It's added as a context menu extension for IE, but you'll have to set up your home address and other information on the site, which may raise some additional red flags for cautious users. When you highlight an address on a Web page, you can right click to find two new options allowing you to get directions. The program didn't always work for us, and it should be noted that Freeway doesn't have its own mapping capabilities. During the setup on the publisher's site, you'll be asked to pick a site to generate the directions.

We got completely lost trying to find our way through this confusing little app. It's free, but you'll have to pay in time and effort to get Freeway Driving Directions for Internet Explorer to work.
