From Recoveronix :FreeUndelete is a freeware data recovery program for files accidentally deleted on a NTFS (used by default in Windows XP/2000/NT) and FAT32 file systems. The process of data restoration is fully automatic and does not require any special knowledge or training. A person simply selects a drive, presses a button and the program locates files that can be undeleted after thoroughly scanning the disk. FreeUndelete features a comprehensive interface, which allows user to sort the files according to their efficiency (good, average, poor). Users can set various filters on file name, extension or location for convinient browsing of scan results.

Version: FreeUndelete 2.1
"Free option for recovery of deleted files"
Pros: FREE!!! Small download. Easy Install, Fast scan of 100Gb Partition. 20mins from installing and running of program to recover 4GB of data. Recovered .txt .jpg .pdf .html OK. Liked how it did not have to be run from bootable media.
Cons: The Media files it recovered were either unreadable or they were files that were not the ones requested. No status bar to indicate progress of recovery. Would be nice to know if destination drive had sufficent space for recovery.
Summary: I got what I DID'NT pay for. Luckly the media files I recovered were not important. Was more interested in the non media files I recovered sucessfully. Not sure if the recover process was affected by the 1st attempt at recovery which got stopped bec... read more >>
