Like many similar apps, Free iPod Video Converter is a spiffed-up front end for codecs that transforms your digital video files into an iPod-compatible format. But to give the program some credit, it is easy to use, and of course it's free. It works with AVI, MPEG, VOB, WMV, and RM files and supports batch conversion. You can specify the video and sound quality and have the program automatically shut down the computer when it's finished. There's nothing groundbreaking here, but Free iPod Video Converter's reasonably good looks, decent functionality, and free price make it a solid competitor.

Nice interface.
Cons
Asks one to run a special codec file, but no URL is given for that download. Essentially it didn't do the job. Maybe it's because it is now 4 years old. It would be nice for the author to update it.
Summary
This old file didn't work for me. 1-2 stars is appropriate.

Straight-forward and free. The batch convert and shut down when finished means I can leave it working when I go to bed/leave the house.

Summary
Simple to use and did the job. I needed something to convert mpg2 movies etc. To mpg4 for my sony walkman. My Dr Who collection is slowly being converted (in conjunction with other software) and watched on long journeys thanks to this product.

Very simple to use, nice UI, convertas a lotof pouplar formats, works faster than I expected

My videos work once or twice, then the screen freezes at launch and buttons are not responding. Requires reboot.
I double checked with some MPG4 downloaded from iTunes and they work fine, so it's not a iPod issue, looks like a converter issue.Summary
I'd like to see more comments, will use it again but also search for an alternative

Good converter, didn't have much problems.

While the product is useful, it doesn't have some of the features that other ipod converters have.While you can use it as a trial version, if you follow guidelines you can get the regirstration code for free. Does not have a downloadble feature.

It converted my .avi file to .mp4 and played on my ipod like it said

the image was mirrored upside down and backwards.. so, yeah..

Stay away from this one, there are decient freeware out there that does it without lame limitations like this, although maybe i just missed something.. But i'm not satisfied with this program at all..
