DVDVideoSoft's Free Video to Flash Converter has one purpose, two file types, four quality levels, and many uses. Its single mission is to convert various video files into one of two file types for posting online. It converts most common video formats into Flash (FLV) and Shockwave Flash (SWF) files you can post on your Web site or blog. When it's done, it plays a preview of your converted video in your browser. For SWF files, Free Video to Flash Converter also generates all the HTML code and documents you need, too.
Free Video to Flash Converter has a simple, colorful interface that prominently displays the developer's logo in the main window. This tool is very easy to use: a series of buttons labeled Add Files, Remove, Output Name, and Player; an output directory; and drop-down menus for choosing a format and video quality level. Arrows let us move added videos up and down in sequence for batch processing, and we could uncheck the box to show an HTMP example of converted files if we didn't want the program opening our browser every time it did its thing. The program has one interesting option: video acceleration using ATI technology. It's checked by default, and we left it checked. We could also have the program shut down our PC when it's finished converting videos, change the language and skin, view the log, and check for updates.
Free Video to Flash Converter can handle a lot of video formats for input files, including WMV, AVI, MPEG, and MOV. We browsed to a copied DVD and selected a chapter file at random. We selected FLV as our output format, specified Maximum Quality (including 44.1 kHz stereo) and pressed Convert. The program processed our file and opened a preview page in our browser (Chrome) when it finished. We pressed the Play arrow, and our converted video played normally, and with pretty impressive quality, too. The page contained instructions and cut-and-paste code as well as links for more detailed instructions and specifications. Free Video to Flash Converter makes converting videos for posting online easy and fun.
