"much easier than other sound recording software"
Version: Free Sound Recorder 9.3.1
Pros
- Can record sounds on Windows 7 64bit even if the stereo mix is disabled.
- good recording quality.Cons
Can't find any faults as of yet.
Summary
I searched for a workable sound recording software. All most all other sound recording software relay on Windows stereo mix feature, those software works well in XP, but not for Vista/7, especially for 64bit Windows. :-)

"It does its job"
Version: Free Sound Recorder 9.3.1
Pros
This software fulfills its purpose.
Cons
I haven't found anything, I see a lot of people complaining about a toolbar bar, which is completely avoidable.
Summary
This software does exactly what its suppose to do. When installing it, BE SURE TO READ BEFORE YOU ACCEPT ANYTHING. This is what makes the toolbar install. At a certain point it will ask you to DECLINE or ACCEPT, and if you hit accept, the toolbar will install but if you DECLINE the instillation will still proceed. HIT THE DECLINE BUTTON IF YOU DON'T WANT THE TOOLBAR.

"Intrusive and ineffective as recorder"
Version: Free Sound Recorder 9.3.1
Pros
There is no negative star rating unfortunately.
Cons
This really has to be the most useless, annoying and intrusive thing I've ever downloaded from C-Net. Toolbar installs whether you want it or not and wipes out all browser settings on all browsers you may use. Uninstalling it does not remove it, you have to uninstall it from all individual browsers as well as Windows.
Summary
Just doesn't work.......Creates too many issues

"Good free audio recorder"
Version: Free Sound Recorder 9.3.1
Pros
I streamed some music and record them with Free Sound Recorder. It's comparatively easy and doesn't need a conversion to output the recording.
Cons
It has a radio player and some other useful stuff. For me I can use the radio player and Grooveshark to search and record my fav radio station and online music. If you don't need them, uncheck the box when you install it.
Summary
I got some tutorials on their website and later I found there was no such a need to read them. I have some experience and gotta say to record with this one is just simple. It's designed with some regular buttons and a visual wave pattern. Not so many formats supported, just mp3, wma, wav, ogg and I think that's just fine for a free app. The default hotkey is somewhat annoying as when I press F2, it starts recording no matter if the recorder window is activated, making it hard to rename a file. So I suggest specify another key when the first time you use it.
There is a filelist after recording, listed all your recordings. You can play the recordings, and activate an editor (a paid stuff). Last night I tried the time recording. Worked just fine and got some foreign music recorded. As freeware, this recorder brings a lot. -

"Can't get rid of the toolbar"
Version: Free Sound Recorder 9.3.1
Pros
Records well once you set it up.
Cons
Of course I checked for this not to install the toolbar but it did anyway and now I still can't get rid of it.And yes it does pop up constantly.
Summary
It wasn't worth it just to record one thing.
