This Internet Explorer add-on claims to put thousands of jokes right at your fingertips, but its overall ineffectiveness won't make you smile. Free Jokes Toolbar's basic interface comes with a search field and several buttons, most of which are advertisements.
The one button that actually seems legit--the JokeSearch button--leads you directly to the Comedy Central joke Web site. As far as extra features are concerned, the sparse Preferences menu gives you the option of making Starware.com your home page and allows you to add certain types of search functionality (travel, error, auto, toolbar). We find it annoying that clicking on a button replaces what you are working on, rather than opening a new window.
After all is said and done, you're better off going directly to the Comedy Central site to download jokes rather than wasting your time on this useless toolbar.
