Lightweight and effective, this program is a great way to convert video files from Flash formats into something useful beyond Web pages. Specializing in formats meant for portable devices, Free FLV Converter also supports AVI and can download embedded SWF or FLV vids directly from the Internet when you punch in the URL.
The app can also perform local searches for vids as well as convert to FLV. Hitting either conversion tab will automatically open a file browser so you can choose your victim. From there, a conversion window opens up, and you can change the basics such as settings, including output format, quality, and destination directory, as well as more advanced options like the codec, aspect ratio, and the frame rate. Tap convert at the bottom of the window when you're ready, and the Free FLV Converter works smoothly and without interfering with other programs.
Free FLV Converter does have one annoyance: When you install it, be sure to opt out of the Dealio toolbar. It's no more than a minor drawback, though, and doesn't cause problems later on. Seeing as how the app ran smoothly in the background, it's definitely a must-use piece of freeware.

"Failed to convert to FLV file."
Pros: Has a large number of options.
Cons: Doesn't work for FLV files.

Pros: Pretty good converter, it's FREE! Can't convert if you have some codec issues.
Cons: Bug-fixing release is a dud, previous version is a lot better. 3g2 replaces 3gp format. Plato Converter, Youtube downloader are needed as back-up.

Cons: It's a downloader then maybe a converter.
Summary: Doesn't convert anything you don't download from youtube google etc. If you've got it from somewhere else or it's on your computer then forget it. I'm unable to get it to convert anything I want.

"Does exactly what it's supposed to, and it is too free."
Pros: It's very fast. (Turn off the picture.) It converts flvs you can't even play with Media Player Classic.
Cons: None so far.

Pros: NONE. How can I tell its Pros if I can't even used it as a Trial version!
Cons: This program is NOT A FREEWARE! And this isn't a Trial version either! Upon downloading, you can't even use it unless you register your name & serial #, which is obviously acquired through "BUYING" a licence. How can you call that a FREEWARE? LOL
Summary: Just like what I've said, THIS IS NOT A FREEWARE! NOT A TRIAL VERSION EITHER!
You'll just waste your time trying this program unless you buy it beforehand. What a scam!
