If you love music but hate jumping from Firefox to music player and back whenever you want to adjust your tunes, FoxyTunes is the plug-in for you.
FoxyTunes gives you control of your favorite music player from within Firefox, so there's no more switching windows to get rid of that Barry Manilow ditty you forgot to delete. The interface is easy to use and offers a plethora of options. When opened, it shows a full navigation array, including play, pause, mute, next track, last track, volume adjustment, and the useful Show Player, which un-hides your music player. There's also a Hide Player button, as well as a music search tool, keyboard shortcuts, and a growing number of skins. The application supports 21 players, including iTunes, Winamp, RealPlayer, and XMPlay, as well as eight derivatives, and it has a Custom Player option. You can even search for lyrics and view the album art, all with a mouse-over and a click. When running, the add-on shows the current track title and artist, assuming you want it to. FoxyTunes' strengths lie in the depth of available features plus the level of customization.
Weaknesses? Only that you'll wish all Firefox add-ons were this good.
Publisher's description
From Alex Sirota :FoxyTunes is an Extension for Mozilla Firefox that supports the Mozilla Suite and Mozilla Thunderbird. It allows you to control your favorite media player without leaving the browser. The controls are positioned on the status bar or one of the toolbars, so no extra space is wasted. FoxyTunes has several nice features. You can control the playback, adjust the volume, and see what's playing. Many more features are in development, among them advanced music-related searches.
Version 2.2.1 features Rhapsody Online support, enables getting album covers from iTunes, allows configuring prefered Amazon store for album covers, includes minor tweaks and bug fixes.
CNET Editor's Note: The Download Now link will prompt a local download of the Firefox extension. To install the extension directly, open the file using your Firefox browser.

Version: FoxyTunes 2.2.1
Pros: I really like FoxyTunes. This add-on adds music player functionality to Firefox. It is now much easier to use this to manage my music players so that I can control them without having to switch over my windows to my player. This supports popular players such as WinAmp, Rhapsody, Pandora, Quintessential Player, and Windows Media Player. It is easier to set up, and now comes with a little mini-player. This is a great little piece of software!
Cons: My only con is that installing themes is not as straightforward as it is in Firefox in general, but that is really nit-picking. Pick this one up, and you won't be disappointed!
