What's the biggest threat to your data? Is it snooping, or device theft, or hacking, or simple carelessness? How about all of the above? Suppose you could lock down your files, folders, drives, and devices with password protection; encrypt critically important data on the fly; store it on your smartphone or thumbdrive; and back it all up to a secure online storage locker that automatically syncs data and lets you access it on mobile devices? We'll tell you now that we're referring to one utility, Folder Lock, before we continue enumerating its features, which also include stealth mode, hack protection and logging (including forced shutdown); wallets for personal information like credit card numbers, file shredding, application-level passwords; and more. The latest release, Folder Lock 7, adds enhanced drag-and-drop capability, easier unlocking, and automatic backups of encrypted data to your online storage share. Folder Lock is free to try, with a 30-use limit.
Folder Lock installed smoothly in both our 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 systems. On first run, you're prompted to create a master password and enter it twice, consecutively: it's important to get it right. Folder Lock's colorful, wizardlike interface resembles a lot of premium tools, especially backup utilities. The left sidebar accesses its main features -- Lock Files, Encrypt Files, Secure Backup, Protect USB/CD, and Make Wallets -- which are all pretty much self-explanatory, except Make Wallets (which are nothing like you made at summer camp). All these features are easy to set up, and Folder Lock's interface walked us through each step. Clicking Learn More opened the User Guide, an excellent Help file that explains everything about using Folder Lock. An Xtras menu offers a file shredder and history cleaner; both pull their weight.
Folder Lock 7's security tools make it worth paying for over a collection of similar freeware tools, if it's possible to assemble one. But the online storage and sync makes the crucial difference. It not only stores and syncs data but also creates fully portable, secure, encrypted Lockers. You can even convert Lockers into encrypted executable files you can distribute to clients with help from the Protect USB/CD feature.

I could not find anything good about this application.
Cons
Nobody returns your support emails. This application caused my computer to reboot non-stop. I had to take my computer in to the Geek Squad to have it fixed. They told me never to use this application because they have seen many issues with it.

Folder Lock is easy to use, and very quick to install. Some of our employees handle very confidential files locally on their PC's and needed the extra protection. This program has done just that ! We've even tested this program out by having some of our technical guys try to gain access to the Folders while they are locked, and they have been unsuccessful. So it has passed our test as well, and we are glad to have purchased the program. Highly recommended!

I liked this program too. I think this is one of the finest encryption programs ever! I use it daily to checkout my private videos and photos and some family pictures that I fear might get stolen if I leave my laptop is left unattended or gets lost.

"Phenomenal and down to EARTH!!!"

We have implemented Folder Lock across a network of 100 computers in our office for encrypting and security files. I like the extra stealth and obscurity related features in the program and the encryption is really power.

Extremely useful utility. I would give it a 6 star if it was possible. My boss is happy that we implemented this program in our office. We can now safely use company assets and important files and be sure that they will be hidden from the unauthorized users. What I like best is that even after encryption, the Lockers this program creates are delete proof and can't be moved or even copied. This is fantastic!

nice, easy to use and reliable for all importtant files and documents. I tried its trial version and used each and every feature to test it by myself, and found it good and now i am a registered user :)

i didn't find any problem in fact all the files that i locked are inaccessible without my password.

i used its trial version and now using full version and pretty much satisfied specially with the feature that protected lockers cannot be deleted without correct password, this ensures me that whatever i have locked/encrypt in my locker is completely safe and cannot be lost

Folder Lock is really simplistic software, runs smoothly on my xp OS, using it on my office system and found that it also runs best on vista OS too.
Cons
Its new version is outstanding, while using the previous version I did face some bugs and reported to the customer support and I appreciate their cooperation, they do as they say, my issue was solved in 48 hours

I must say that it is a powerful security software, it is impossible to break into it, encryption and locking mechanism are extremely secure and reliable, I have been using this software for two years and pretty much satisfied with its functionality and the customer support is also very good.
One thing which I should mention is that the vendor is really very caring for its clients, I asked them for the free upgrades as was promised and I am happy that they really honor their promises.
The feature I like most of this software is that I can Email my documents protected by Folder Lock, my data is even protected on the Email. Folder Lock is a complete satisfaction for me. The new version is flawless, completely safe and bug free, I would fully recommend Folder lock.
