Snoopers can't find or access the files you hide using Folder Lock, even in DOS or under other operating systems. This application provides two levels of protection: you can merely lock files and folders, or you can encrypt them using the 256-bit Blowfish algorithm. When you boot up the program, it'll ask you for a master password. Hitting the Browse link locates and lock folders anywhere on your computer, or you can simply secure them via the context menu. Encryption is limited in the free version to 25 MB.
Although the too-cute-for-words interface doesn't make them easy to find, Folder Lock does have a treasure trove of Advanced features, accessible after you hit the Options button. You can set files to be shredded, force the computer to shut down after failed entry attempts, erase document history, the clipboard and more, and enter into Stealth mode, which hides the app's presence on your computer.
The interface, which includes simple animations for no reason other than to "entertain" you, would be better served by a more standard layout that makes options readily and easily available. No doubt to excite your inner lock-breaking child, the octagonal purplish blue layout is supplemented with three more skins when you purchase the full version.
In our tests, the program demonstrated good speed, even when securing large folders. If you share a PC and need to keep certain files to yourself, you should definitely give Folder Lock a try.

In addition, a locker's delete, move and rename are password protected to prevent data loss.

"Linux/Ubuntu users can see files! No encryption!"
Pros: Nice Graphics. I recieve year after year of junk mail, Thanks Folder Lock people! Nice Trick that only hides your files from windows users and no need for encryption right? That's why it's so fast!
Cons: Folder Lock does not encrypt at all. It renames your folder into a unreadable garbage that windows does not recognize! Linux users can see your folder & files. No encryption. They sale your name to other companies. Get ready for junk mail heaven!

Version: Folder Lock 6.3
Pros: Files that I want to keep confidential are easily both encrypted and rendered invisible in my locker. I can transfer my files on my thumb drive so that if itget lost or stolen, my information, files and pictures will not be compromised.
Cons: till now none... it work exactly as it should

"TOTALLY SECURE IN USB DRIVES"
Pros: The only program that is both portable and secure and offers data protection such that the files and folders are secure even in other Operating Systems including Apple, Linux and Unix. Furthermore, I have used this program extensively and like it.
Cons: No cons....

Version: Folder Lock 6.3
Pros: Easy, rock-solid encryption. I have tried, tried and tried but couldn't hack into my data. Extremely safe product.
Cons: Apparently, negative reviews are from competitors. Download Folder Lock and see yourself how useful it is.
Summary: I have a USB drive and three partitions where I keep my encrypted data. Folder Lock is easy to make even my encrypted data, delete proof. This is something only this program can offer. I recommend this product!

Version: Folder Lock 6.3
Pros: This is a fairly decent program, updated frequently and has been on more market for as long as I got internet for myself. I am probably the oldest user of Folder Lock and recommend to friends and family regularly. A must have!!
Cons: Though the program is good, I think Newsoftwares should now work more on getting other similar products out which offer more than what Folder Lock offers. Furthermore, I think these negative reviews are quite pointless and makes me laugh.
